Take care of your Snow Leopard with mfTuneKit
A brand new system tuning and maintenance app for Mac OS X 10.6 is now available: mfTuneKit. It’s a freeware written using Snow Leopard’s Cocoa API. mfTuneKit offers you a simple and secure way to take care your Snow Leopard. All the features it provides are derived from the frequently asked questions of Apple or Mac User forums. Thus, it really gives easy solutions for many practical but tricky problems Snow Leopard users have.
Main Window
There are six tabs on the main window: Hardware Info, Software Info, Power Management, Open Files, ToolKit and Maintenance. The Hardware Info tab displays detailed information of your Mac’s hardware. Click “?” button, warranty information of your Mac will shows up. If you have Growl Message Framework installed on your system, you will get Growl Notification, which will bring you to Apple Warranty Check site after you give it a click. If you are using a MacBook, Sundden Motion Sensor is a very importent function to protect your disk from harm. You can see it’s enabled here as default. But if you are using a SSD, this function is useless for you. You’d better disable it.

Software Info Tab displays software and OS information of your Mac. The unique feature tis tab boasts is the ability to switch your Mac mode between 64bit and 32 bit. All you need to do is clicking button “?”. If the status of “64bit Kernel Enabled” is “Yes”, your Mac is running under 64bit mode. And a “No” means 32bit mode is on.
Software Info Tab
Power Management
There are three “?” button on Power Management Tab. Clicking the first two leads you to detailed information accordingly, while the 3rd “?” allows you to set sleeping mode for your mac. You can choose from Memory Sleep Mode, Mixed Sleep Mode and Disk Sleep Mode. Click “Deep Sleep Now” will put your Mac into Disk Sleep immediately without changing your current Hibernation Mode policy.
Open Files
This tab can list all the open files of your mac at the moment, which is a quite unique feature. You can choose to open a certain file in Finder.
ToolKit
As you can see, the ToolKit tab contains a lot of useful functions. You can get warranty info of your Apple devices by typing in its serial number. Even HFS+ Access Recording is removable.

Maintenance
On the Maintenance tab, script running frequency and position of memory files can be set.
